Gingerbread men and Popcorn Machines

So last night I was exhausted and fell asleep the minute I was able to go to my room. I'm not really sure why I was so exhausted but I was. Today my legs are so sore because I decided to give the crazy stairs another go yesterday, and I'm paying for it now. But I got some cool pictures, which will be uploaded as soon as I get the patience to deal with that. Which means it probably won't be until after I get home:) So... there isn't too much to report, yesterday after my redo adventure on the jungle stairs I fed Siva lunch and took him up for his nap. By the time his nap was over it was pouring down rain outside and we were stuck in the apartment. This morning I was lazy all morning due to my sore legs and it rained again haha... but tomorrow we have an adventure planned...

Killer Monkeys

So today started out pretty routine. Nothing too special. We woke up, went down to the restaurant for breakfast, then Siva and I went over to the kids area to play with trucks... cuz that's about all he ever wants to play with. After that I took him up to the room for lunch and his nap, and I just hung out and read a book. After he woke up I got a few hours off to do some exploring... I had no idea where to go, so I went to the front desk to ask them what I could do in a few hours. The guy that I talked to told me that there is a path that I can take from the beach that goes up through the forest and to the other side of the peninsula by the bay. This seemed like a good option as I really wanted to see some nature and I love to walk. He warned me that there are lots of stairs, and I said I'd be fine. Now let me say that a lot of stairs... total understatement. I've never seen so many stairs in my entire life... this experience was like stairmaster Hell. I took the insanely long stair case for about 45 minutes... 45 minutes of stairs... my butt is going to hurt tomorrow. And the sad part is I didn't even make it to the bay. I got to the point that the path meets up with the road then breaks off into another path and decided to turn back because daylight was starting to fade and I didn't want to be exploring the death staircase in the dark. So I decided that I'm going to try and wake up early tomorrow and give the staircase another shot.. mostly because it's an amazing workout and I could use the calorie burn lol. Here are the highlights from my adventure in the forest...
1.It was beautiful, words cannot describe so I won't even try
2. I found a beach called Playa Prieta, fitting as all of the sand on the beach was black
3. I encountered a family of killer monkeys, well I don't know if they were actually killer monkeys but they were making very angry noises and I was too scared to stick around to find out.
4. I didn't encounter a single person on my journey... apparently I am the only person stupid enough to climb thousands of steps in a jungle when it is 90 degrees outside and 95% humidity
5. my shirt was drenched with sweat, I generally don't sweat when I exercise, but it was just that hot and humid... plus I was literally working my ass off climbing those steps.
6. I love to walk, and walking through such amazing peaceful beauty brought me a happiness I haven't felt in a long time

Now for the lessons I learned on my journey...
1. always wear appropriate footware, flip flops do not equal appropriate footware
2. bring water... or die
3. when the hotel guy says there are a lot of stairs... listen to him
4. don't look the killer monkeys in the eye... I don't know if this is actually true, but it sounded good and they didn't attack me

I made it back to the beach just in time to watch the sunset... awesome

Getting Back on Track

So I haven't blogged in forever... well about 4 months, but to Elaina Davis that seems lke forever! Ha! But my life has been a bit of a roller coaster. I was laid off from my job, found a job as a nanny, moved after much drama, crashed new roommate's car, and lost about 30 lbs due to stress lol And those are the main things. My emotions have kind of been all over the place and I haven't really had the concentration to sit down and focus on anything. But no that I'm starting to feel like I'm putting the pieces of my life back together, I decided that for the sake of Elaina, as she is the only one who reads this blog and takes it very personally when I neglect it, I shall begin to blog again. And hopefully it will help me focus on the positives in my life instead of the negatives. So here we go....

It sucked getting laid off, but it really was one of the best things that could have happened to me because I found an awesome job as a nanny. Now if you've seen the movie "The Nanny Diaries" being a nanny doesn't seem like much fun. However, the experience I've been having is completely different than that of the movie. First of all, the family I work for is incredible. They treat more as a part of the family than an employee. Second, I actually look forward to going to work. I haven't looked forward to going to work... well ever haha. Third, it comes with sweet perks. For instance, at this very moment I am sitting in a master bedroom suite at the Four Seasons Resort in Costa Rica... it's true lol The family loves to travel, and wherever they go... I go too. A few weeks ago they decided they wanted to go to Costa Rica because they'd never been... and now here we are:) I don't have too much to report because we didn't get in until late this evening and the sun set shortly after we got here. But what I saw so far was gorgeous! It is crazy hot and humid here... but hopefully I'll go home with a nice tan:) Alright, I don't have anything else to report tonight, but I'm sure tomorrow I'll have some fun adventures to talk about. Goodnight Elaina!!!!
